Health Insurance in Florida
Florida ranks 46 out of 50 states of residence, without health insurance. According to a recent study shows that over 21% of Floridians do not have coverage. This is a higher percentage of uninsured than in 2006. The United Health Foundation, in 2007, Florida ranked 41 on the overall health of its residents. High rate of violent crime, low graduation rates, with high rates of infectious disease, all contributed to Florida bassograduatoria. The high cost of health care in comparison to other states is also a factor.
On the positive side, the percentage of Florida children in poverty has continued to fall. Florida also has a low rate of mortality due to cancer, a low rate of obesity, and a low rate of binge drinkers.
Some of the significant improvements for Florida include:
A decrease in the percentage of children in poverty from 15.8% to 14.6%.
A decrease of 10% of Numberofemployees smoking since 1990.
A significant decrease in violent crime since 1990.
Florida gains are large, and so are the challenges for its people. With all the health risks and the cost of care, the importance of individual and family health insurance should not be overlooked.
